# Why does the API endpoint return an IP authorization error?

Before calling an API endpoint, add the public egress IP address of the requesting server to the [Access Management page](https://www.thesports.com/zh/user/ips) in the console.

### Why does the error persist after adding the IP address?

The public egress IP address used by the request may not match the IP address added to the whitelist.

Confirm that you have added the public egress IP address of the requesting server, rather than its local or private IP address. 

To identify your public egress IP address, request the following API endpoint:

```
https://api.thesports.com/v1/ip/demo
```

The first IP address in the returned `X-Forwarded-For` field is your public egress IP address. Add this IP address to the whitelist.

Also check whether your network uses an IP pool that assigns a different public egress IP address to each request.

### Are IP pools supported?

No. TheSports API endpoints currently support requests from fixed public IP addresses only.
