# How to use the Data update API endpoint？

The [**Data update**](/thesports-docs/basic-info/data-update.md) API endpoint returns the ids of data types that have changed within the past 120 seconds. Use the returned id to retrieve the latest data from the corresponding API endpoint.

For example, if the bracket data for a season changes, the **Data update** API endpoint returns the corresponding `season id` within 120 seconds. Use this `season id` with the [**Bracket**](/thesports-docs/advanced-data/bracket.md) API endpoint to retrieve the latest bracket data.

In the screenshot, `type id: 2` indicates that the changed data type is 'bracket'. The returned `season_id` identifies the season whose bracket data changed within the past 120 seconds. Collect the returned `season_id` values and use them with the **Bracket** API endpoint to retrieve the latest data.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.thesports.com/help-center/football/how-to-use-the-data-update-api-endpoint.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
